Emerging hip hop performer F.R.U ( fellow rebellious underdog ) oozes confidence, and while swagger is nothing new to the game, FRU is on the verge of giving birth to a track record worth backing up. With a natural flair for almost cinematic song construction, he has flipped the hip hop negative with emphatic, unprecedented progression. He also wields a rare gift for revealing psychologically intimate details of his own inner self. With exquisite care and a surgically precise gift for exploitation, FRU is absolutely one of those up and coming artist capable of representing a musical and cultural breakthrough.
Born Fred Fru on April 22nd 1980 at Harris County Memorial Hospital in Houston, with roots in Cameroon; a country of central and west Africa, he moved to Maryland in his teens where he resided with his aunt momentarily. Unfortunately he succumbed to the streets after a series of altercations involving his estranged relatives. After getting fired from his job,a few month after his 21st birthday this hard headed young man took off to California, Los Angeles to be exact where he had a very short lived acting career mostly as an extra or set worker. But frustrated with the outcome of his endeavors he returned back to Maryland. Homeless and destitute however on and off over the years and heavily induced in street life threatening situations, this college dropout started writing poetry which later on transformed into full blown raps. He performed at various open mic venues within the Washington D.C Metropolitan area and with a little hesitation in the beginning the public finally received him with open arms however chanting high praise for his musical talents.
Already a fixture in the DMV underground scene, FRU held down various odd jobs as well as hustling whatever he could in the streets. Despite all his connections and prospects shockingly none of those situations panned out including an offer from Def Jam records in 2005. As a result, with a little support from whitesand entertanment he released his independent debut album " Until Nature Calls" which included a music video for his first single titled " living again" thus creating an even more expanding buzz within his local surroundings. But after surviving a near fatal accident in 2007 where his car rear ended and totaled by an 18 Wheeler tractor trailer while he was on his way to the studio to record the first song to his second indie album he then recognized his true worth and decided to pursue a career in the mainstream music arena.
This DMV representative is now fielding offers from various major and labels but until he makes a final desicions on a label home, FRU is hard at work with the release of 5 projects which are his mixtape series "I'M GOING BACK VOL 1" two eps "HEARTBEAT" and "ONE DAY AT A TIME", a documentary and his major label LP Titled "HOLIDAY BLUES". A final statement from FRU states " All I can is make the best music that I possibly can but like my uncle says " luck is the residue of skill." A word to the public: Keep your ears glued to the radio as FRU is on his way to the airwaves. (Cite: voiceofthestruggle.com/bio)
