"G-Checked" By a Christian???? Stay Strong While Walking In Faith

Turning your life over to God after living wrong for so long is hard enough as it is, but I’m coming to realize that it’s almost easier to live wrong when you have to deal with the constant judgment of others, specifically Christian’s; which in my case are fellow followers of my religion.
More than not, when you openly make it plain to friends, family, and even strangers that you are a follower of a religion you automatically put yourself in a position to be judged; for this reason, I have definitely cut back on whom I share my views on “hot button’s” with in my religion.
My President Mr. Barack Obama issued a statement last week that shocked the nation; he believes that same sex couples should have the ability to be married. It was clarified that these are his personal beliefs, not an attempt to generate laws to be passed but of course, in America this is all certain folk need to hear.
I came across many “Christian” blog/ news sites that spewed hate for the man whom they once admired and supported. I’ve listened to televangelists get on the news and offer their 2 cents as well. So when I was asked by a fellow Christian  “what do you think?” I stated the truth,
I do not believe in Same Sex relationships, and do not support the culture. However, I do not believe the president’s personal beliefs will change my vote when it’s time.
The woman looked at me like I said she owed me money. “How can you call yourself a Christian if you willing to re-vote a man into office that supports and believes in something that your faith denounces and is sin?” she asked, with a puzzled face.
I was prepared. “Christianity is my religion, I follow GOD. God does state that homosexuality is wrong; as a follower of him I believe that as well. He also, is LOVE. I love my president, a lot of what he has done for this country has been positive and unfortunately he hasn’t gotten the due desserts he deserves. Just because he personally feels that same sex couple should be able to get married doesn’t mean I will stop loving him and supporting him. Imagine if God stopped loving us and support us just because we may have done or said something he didn’t agree with?
I knew that explanation would fall on deaf ears so as the woman begin to “check me” on how a Christian should not support the president I kindly walked away and asked her to please enjoy the rest of her day.
I say all that, to say this: whatever religion you practice, ensure you follow GOD. There will always be people whom disagree with what you believe or how you live your life but forget them! Live for your GOD! In the event that your beliefs aren’t exactly what God wants, I know he will give you the knowledge necessary to change. Remain an individual. Refuse to be swayed by the judgment of human’s.
