The 2012 Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala: BEST & WORST DRESSED

Before I begin, Let's define Gala

According to Merriam-Webster Definition of GALA

1: a festive celebration; especially : a public entertainment marking a special occasion

So knowing this, I can thrust upon you my pics for BEST and Worst dressed

Let's get the WORST out of the way 1st....

Eva Mendes, red-orange Prada gown

 WHY?!- Simply due to poor tailoring. A more fitted approached would've done the trick in my book.

Joan Smalls, Balmain dress

WHY?!- This is a gala, formal event.This look is American Music Awards to me.

Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz, both in Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci black suits

 

WHY?!- I would've appreciated Alicia's suit at the Durby. The shoes are what are really hitting a nerve with me. Swizz looks good.

MIA ,iridescent Hawaiian print sculpted jacket and skirt by Stella McCartney

WHY?!- I'm not a fan of floral print. Also don't really care for the frosted pink lipstick unless you wear it correctly- which a nice glosser/moisturizer; it looks cracked after a few rub-ins. her hair would've drawed my attention away from the lipstick if it were in a nice bun.

Chloe Sevigny in Prada 

WHY?!- I'm getting a very disco 1960 vibe from her which is fine, BUT the shoes completely destroy the outfit.

Sofia Vergara in Marchesa

WHY?!- Another case of "poor tailoring". the color isn't exactly my cup of tea, BUT the fact that she (or her stylist) knew not to wear a necklace was great.

Sarah Jessica Parker in Valentino

WHY?!- This dress aged her about 10 years. I'm just not feeling the floral print.

Now, The  BEST 

Rachel Zoe and Karolina Kurkova in Rachel Zoe

WHY?!- Rachel Zoe (Left) is the designer of both gowns so she gets a PASS off Karolina. Both ladies make-up is on point.Rachel's dress while less formal, is SET OFF by the necklace- which other's may disagree. I Love both looks.

Camilla Belle in Ralph Lauren

WHY?!- Camilla is known for rocking fits, always coming correct. This time is no exception.

 

Chanel Iman and Tom Ford in Tom Ford

WHY?!- Do I even need a justification??!!! This look is #6 on my HOT list.

Janelle Monae, Designer not Listed

 WHY?!- Janelle brought it, Simple and Chic. This look is #5 on my HOT list.

Rosario Dawson in Calvin Klein

WHY?!-another case of Simple and Chic. Rosario looks fantastic.

Azealia Banks and Alexander Wang in Alexander Wang

Azealia isn't exactly on my "list" of most liked- But I can't knock her hustle. For her age and it being I believe her 1st time at the awards. She fared very well. She's giving me Foxy Brown vibe here. 

Solange Knowles in Rachel Roy

 WHY?!- Because it's Slo-Angel and Rachel Roy. This look is #4 on my HOT list.

Rihanna in Tom Ford

WHY?!- Rihanna's style is always evolving, this dress, while i'm sure was HOT (literally) did her justice.

Paula Patton in Vera Wang

WHY?!- Paula is the definition of Class. This dress proves that. I'm Loving this color.  This look is #3 on my HOT list.

Kanye West in Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci 

WHY?!- Although Ye has on a screw face in this pic. He embodies what a male should look like in a suit. Clearly taking Notes from Jay, the fit on his tux is impeccable. Not too tight, loose in the leg and arm region. I Love it.
